Kathy Fick A view of my corner of the world Kathy has been painting for more than 30 years. When first starting out, she painted for her own enjoyment and oils were her medium. She soon grew to love watercolor, and this has been her choice ever since. In the 1980's and 1990's Kathy sold her paintings in the art show market, but then took time off to raise and enjoy her family. Kathy works in her home studio with her dog "Kramer" never far from her side.
"I like to work from a photo that has touched the viewers heart in some way. Painting to me is an ongoing attempt to capture the emotion of the moment when that photo was taken." Working from these photos that have touched her heart in some way, Kathy's family and pets are the subjects of most of her paintings. "I love putting onto paper moments that were special to me. It is almost as if I am painting my life, like a painted biography". Kathy has painted many commission pieces for people who also feel the need to hold onto those special memories.
"If I can capture that fleeting moment in a person's life and hold onto it forever through a painting, then I have been successful".
